Nominations Open: WYCUP Scholarships to 2020 World CU Conference

The World Council of Credit Unions has opened nominations for its World Council Young Credit Union Professionals (WYCUP) scholarship program to send up to 5 individuals to the 2020 World Credit Union Conference. Nominations of eligible emerging young leaders are due May 31, 2019. Scholarship awards and the WYCUP program will take place at the 2019 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC), July 28-31, 2019, in the Bahamas.

The WYCUP program, as part of the Diversity & Inclusion conference track, is dedicated to advancing young leaders worldwide and leverages opportunities presented by the WCUC to promote professional development throughout the conference week. Up to five recipients will be awarded WYCUP scholarships for an all-expense-paid trip to the 2020 World Credit Union Conference.

To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must:
  • Be 35 years of age or younger on January 1, 2019
  • Demonstrate leadership, personal commitment and the potential to significantly influence credit unions or financial cooperatives in or outside their country
  • Be actively involved as an employee or volunteer with a credit union or other financial cooperative affiliated with World Council. World Council members include organizations affiliated with any national organization belonging to World Council.
  • Actively participate in the World Credit Union Conference in the Bahamas, including the Diversity & Inclusion conference track. The 2019 WCUC registration and travel expenses must be paid by a sponsoring credit union or credit union organization.
  • Not have been a previous WYCUP scholarship recipient
  • Not be a current World Council employee
WCUC registrants age 35 and younger qualify for a discounted registration fee and can participate in all sessions, regardless of whether or not they apply for the scholarship. The WYCUP program is generously sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group and Servus Credit Union.

June 13-14: CUNA 2019 YP Conference in Madison

Helping young credit union professionals master essential leadership skills is the goal of the 2019 CUNA National Young Professionals Conference from June 13-14 in Madison, Wisconsin.

The credit union movement is constantly evolving, and the hard work of dedicated credit union leaders is essential to keep us sustainable for the future. Your time as a leader of our movement is on the horizon. Now is the time to hone your skills in preparation.

Attendance at this event is eligible for CPE (continuing professional education) credits.  State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

Attend CUNA's GAC as a Vermont Crasher!

Video applications are being accepted by the Cooperative Trust for one scholarship per state to attend the 2019 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference on March 10-14, 2019 as a Crasher.

WHAT'S A CRASHER?  Crashers are credit union young professionals (35 & under, or "35 at heart") who are sponsored to attend a conference at a lower cost and with additional content designed especially for YPs. Applications are easy, and the entire experience is career-changing!  Vermont Crashers also participate in Hill visits and other Vermont-specific events coordinated by the Association of Vermont Credit Unions (AVCU).

Crashers receive free conference registration from CUNA. Travel, lodging, and food costs are the responsibility of the Crasher and their credit union.

Take a deep dive into the world of credit union advocacy with more than 50 other Crashers at the biggest event of the year - your career will never be the same!

Crash the CUNA Lending Council Conference!

Young credit union professionals can apply to crash the CUNA Lending Council Conference, Oct. 28-31, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.

The 3-day conference includes keynotes speakers, thoughtful discussions and breakout sessions, and peer-networking. Attendees will discover new ways to make their lending programs more effective, efficient and compliant.

Keynote speakers include skateboarding legend and entrepreneur Tony Hawk, and Freddie Ravel, a Grammy-nominated pianist and business visionary.

Crashers are credit union young professionals who are sponsored to attend a conference at a lower cost and with additional content designed especially for them. Conference crashers receive professional development tools, meet with industry leaders, network with peers and experience each event in a dynamic way.

Crash applications and supporting documents must be received by The Cooperative Trust by Monday, September 24th. Applicants will be notified of their application status no later than October 1st.

The Executive Readiness Summit focuses on credit union women working in mid to high-level positions and is intended to help build critical competencies, networking, and expanding knowledge in order to support and equip executive-track women in their career journey.

The World Council of Credit Unions is accepting nominations for the World Council Young Credit Union Professionals (WYCUP) scholarship program, an international networking and educational opportunity for emerging credit union leaders. Nominations are due May 31, 2018. Scholarship awards and the WYCUP program will take place at the 2018 World Credit Union Conference, July 15-18, 2018, in Singapore. New this year, the Diversity & Inclusion conference track is dedicated to leveraging opportunities to promote professional development for young leaders. Up to five recipients will be awarded WYCUP scholarships for an all-expense-paid trip to the 2019 World Credit Union Conference.

To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must:

  • Be 35 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2018.
  • Demonstrate leadership, personal commitment and the potential to significantly influence credit unions or financial cooperatives in or outside their country.
  • Be actively involved as an employee or volunteer with a credit union or other financial cooperative affiliated with World Council. World Council members include organizations affiliated with any national organization belonging to World Council.
  • Be sponsored by their credit union, credit union organization or financial cooperative to attend the 2018 World Credit Union Conference. 
  • Submit a completed nomination form and supporting materials by Thursday, May 31, 2018.
  • Not have been a previous WYCUP scholarship recipient.
  • Not be a current World Council employee.

Conference registrants age 35 and younger qualify for a discounted registration fee and can participate in all sessions, regardless of whether or not they apply for the scholarship.
